Agree, deeper than 1/2 inch on zinnias and marigolds will give you uneven emergence

I’ve seeded both with old planet jrs., but it’s a lot easier to control depth.

Support is really good for cut flowers, if just for show it might not be necessary. Mildew will be really bad if your stand is thick
