Subject: Sustainable Agriculture definition please...

What in the world does that term (sustainable agriculture) mean? Okay, I guess it depends on your perspective. I heard it thrown around in the early 90's when I was an Agronomy student and thought, "what the heck are they talking about?" What if the gov't wants to know if you employ sustainable ag. practices on a variety of topics. How do you answer? Topics include: Crop rotation, O.M. maintenance, N. fertilization, Insect mgmnt, Weed mgmnt, Disease mgmnt. I guess my short answer would be to all of the aforementioned, whatever nets me the most. After all, that's what's going to sustain this operation.

I wonder if anyone that's the least bit successful is employing unsustainable practices.
