An old friend always said it's great to do business with a small town bank so long as it isn't in your small town. Very true.
Funny because it's true.
I actually shopped for another bank about 20 years ago and kept the old bank, but in a reduced capacity. Both know me well and both are good to me. I did find that when they know you have other choices at hand, the deals seemed to get a bit better. That was my point in diversifying. Both are still very local. I base my decision mostly on one question. If we make a deal, is that what we can bank on or do you need to ask for approval from a main bank. If they need to send out for an answer, I'm in the wrong place.
