But if you own 500 acres with payments and you have a bin site and shop with some debt and a line of machinery with some debt when the person who sold for $300/acre profit comes in and either rents the 1500 rented acres away from you or raises the rent to a level that is unsustainable for you that’s a real problem. Selling for a profit is a good thing, but we don’t operate in a vacuum. People around here made a bunch of money in 2012 with a very good crop and selling $5 corn. And then got blown out of the water with $400+ rent the next 3 years they agreed to so they didn’t lose it to the 20,000+ acre guys offering $500/acre. | |
