I have a tandem rear axle tractor pulling a 36’ single axle drop deck trailer. If the trailer gvrw is 26000 and the trailer weight is 7350, the trailer can legally only have 18650 payload? It doesn’t matter if I can get more weight on the tractor, It would not be legal to carry say 21000 payload, even if the trailer axle weighed 19k total. Correct? \
Short gooseneck on the trailer hasn't been mentioned, most single axle trailers here have a short neck on them, there is not very many..
Having a short neck, would required the fifth wheel to be set back over or behind the read tandem axle of the tractor...Overloading the rear of the tractor making for understeer with any load on the trailer. |
