I used Larry Tranel's designs for my parlor and palpation rail. Here's a link.

I used a 10" pipe scavenged from a pivot for a chest rail the first time.

The second one I had the cows up against concrete feed bunks with a 2 3/8" butt pipe.

We have headlocks now but the those measurements worked fine for the palpation rail.
