W. Illinois | The whole thing pivots on a 1" solid shaft that is welded into 2x6 piece of rectangular tubing. The tubing is bolted to the bottom of the trailer decking. Can't recall the pipe size that fits over the shaft, but the step assembly is welded to that pipe. The brace on the bottom is necessary to keep the whole thing solid. The latch pin is spring loaded in between the horizontal arms. Be sure to buy the "swivel mount" steps as they have a better base to start from.
