my estimate would be 30 tires. when i bought mine we had 2 tires shops within 6 miles. between all the waiting, and waiting and the "this tire is junk, you will have to get a new tire and we dont have any used". their is absolutely no doubt of how few of tires it takes to justify one. since then closest tire shop is 20 miles and has half-1 hour lines. i would absolutely say 30 tires is all it took.
