I need a tire machine. Tired of waiting in town. Seem to struggle with beads on newer aluminum wheels, implements, etc. Back is getting older. I buy my tires at a wholesale place and would like to mount them much faster than the spoons and irons I'm using now. I've read every thread imaginable.

Your next tire's Coseng? Greg Smith? Ranger? Don't need the $7000 machine but am expecting the 2-3K tag. Is the 1hp motor plenty? Ranger has a machine with 3hp but would require me to get 220V over to that spot in the shop. Looked on FB marketplace and CG without much luck.

I bought a used current production Coats a couple years ago from a tire shop planned update. It's my third Coats machine and works well. Parts are plentiful on the internet for the few times you need any. I've always been pleased with the Coats machines. I didn't want to buy an orphan even if they are a little cheaper.

I got the coseng from next tire and satisfied with it. I do have some air leaks and minor issues, but works for my personal use.
I pretty much repair all implement tires and vehicles.
I have a good tire shop guy and he gets all my tractor and trailer business, but I do cars and pickups. Very convenient to be able to fix tires at home.

Ask several tire shops. They use them all day, every day. They know what works (and will last) and what won't. I've always said "it takes a special person to wake up in the morning, and go to work, knowing you're gonna F with tires all day." ............I'm not that guy.

+1

I grew up in truck stop service station. The only ones that lasted were coats. In my own shop that's all I have had is coats. Went rim clamp about seven years ago. It took a while but I found a repo one from a tool guy that was almost like new and its been a great machine. Those knock off machines will work but when I have a tire to fix the last thing I want to do is fix the machine first.

We have a ranger 980?, I think it came from Garage Equipment or something like that. It works fine for what we do, implement, trailers, vehicles. It is about 15 years old, no issues yet other than the water separator/oiler failed this year.

It works on everything from ATV tires to 22", I would buy another.

$15 dollars to fix a flat. How many tires does it take to pay for a machine $15 at a time?

The 15 dollar part has nothing to do with why we have one.

100, less if you get the after hours bill. 17.50 here for first hole 5 for second, and so on.

That's not the only way the machine pays. My local tire dealer discounts the tires I buy because I mount them myself. This savings alone has made quite a difference. Also, I've found that most tires need a repair on Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday plus any time after hours. If you can fix a tire before a rain hits and finish a job what is that worth? My tire machine would be one of the last pieces of equipment to leave my place.

Figure in savings on tires, convenience and time not spent driving to town. We have a Coats 4040. It sure was a step up from the manual one we had. When I find a deal on a rim clamp I'll probably upgrade. Main reason being my 4040 doesn't like 17's or bigger. Our trucks all have 17s and 20s now.
While on the subject do you guys that change alot of tires have a balancer too?

Coates and hunter are usual suspects in most shops, so lots of those hit the used market. have a buddy with a new mondial and it does the trick too.

Heard a quote on a new snap on, high end machine - 23k .

I have a hunter 3500 I just picked up.

bought one from your next tire years ago, probably 10. it has everything i needed it to over the years.

the odd part is, i just looked at their website for the first time in years and the same tire machine i bought 10 years age still costs the same money.

hefty boys often talk about $100 an hour jobs you can do on your own farm, repairing your own tire on a sat afternoon enables you to pay for one in very few tire repairs.

best thing i learned by owning one, don't let the local racing guys know you have a machine.

my estimate would be 30 tires. when i bought mine we had 2 tires shops within 6 miles. between all the waiting, and waiting and the "this tire is junk, you will have to get a new tire and we dont have any used". their is absolutely no doubt of how few of tires it takes to justify one. since then closest tire shop is 20 miles and has half-1 hour lines. i would absolutely say 30 tires is all it took.

I've have a chinese xk 988 and balancer combo off of ebay and figured it was better than spoons. Pretty impressed so far, did have to replace the regulater after about a year but no regrets. pretty decent quality for the price.

Because I mount my own tires, my tire dealer knows I can buy my tires anywhere, so he is very competitive . Helps a tire machine pay for itself fast

I have had a machine from Your Next Tire for 8 or 9 years. It works OK for me but I doubt if it would last long in a high volume tire shop. The biggest savings for me by far is the time and expense savings compared to taking the tire to town. Going to town could waste a half day depending on how busy the tire shop is when I walk in the door. Fixing a flat tire in my shop might take a half hour counting the time in removal and reinstallation from the vehicle or wagon. Field cultivator and planter tire removal is a different story.

You must have less junk in the roads. I figure 3-5 years on repairs only. That's not including what you can save on replacement tires or any valve for being able to fix a tire at any time.

Just bought a new Coats from NAPA

Coats RC-45e. You can get them delivered to the shop for about 4000.00 plus tax.
This isn't some cheap china made piece. It is commercial grade and will do all of the newer style rims without damage.

When I owned the tire shop, FMC was the premium machine. They would outlast the coats by several years. We wore out several machines. I havnt seen a FMC for years. New-- it would have to be Coats or Hunter today. As far as a balancer goes, electronic is the only way to go. I bought a Coats 1001 at a consignment auction 2 years ago. It works good.

So you can mount a tire, what about balancing the automotive tires? Next where do you guys have your flats? right at home? or do you drive by the tire shop? Yes I know some of you live Miles from any service. I don't think I'll never own a tire machine. local tire guy is top notch. Sales, and Service. I can swap tires from different implements sometimes.
This thread must have hit a nerve from the responses. To each his own. Just like I'll NEVER VOTE DEMOCRAP!!!!
