As a lineman myself I would highly advise you to not attempt what you have suggested at all. Just to add if I was the one running trouble on your line and discovered what you had done if you choose to do so. I would not only turn it off in a way that only a lineman could turn it back on it would be the last place that was turned back on with support from my supervisor.
