Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | If the pump is a centrifugal type you can just throttle it down with a valve on the output side as long as there is some flow no damage will occur. Don't put the valve on the Inlet side as then the pump can get damaged. T
When I was on the Fire Department. Guys would shut off the nozzles so no water was flowing but wanted the pump to be kept up and humming in case they needed water quickly. We would allow a small amount to bypass back to the internal tank. By allowing a small amount to bypass back, the pump stayed cool and the lines still had good pressure if water was once again needed.
