That engine was advertised to deliver 436 ft lbs of torque @ 1500 RPM. Now, that isn't "weak". You want to see weak, drive a stock (which there aren't any) 4430 Deere. The maximum torque a farm tractor engine delivers has much to do with what the Engineers wanted it to deliver. They know what their transmission and rear end can tolerate and still live a good life. I don't have any specific numbers on the particular 8.3 Cummins handy, but I can only imagine the "peak" torque is probably 500 ft lbs or more.


8.3 is over 600, depending on HP setting, over 700.
