Subject: RE: ISOBUS - CANBUS (explanation for dummy’s)

Eastern Ontario, Canada
little off the exact original topic but somebody may find this searching a problem. with CANBUS systems having two wires sending all of the information back and forth, (signals are going both directions in both wires) and so very many messages running back and forth, there has to be a way to cancel those messages or they would just keep bouncing back and forth. This is where TERMINATORS come in. usually near a controller or the end of line so to speak. it is a little resistor that deletes the signals. a very simple but very important piece of the CANBUS. So if anybody is ever having troubles with controllers not showing up or not working quite right it is very often a bad terminator.

My 7430 tractor has 9 terminators, one for every controller basically, engine, transmisson, hydraulics, mid valve for loader, rear scv, hvac, lights, isobus network, and autotrac/greenstar. If i have any problem with codes coming up for the canbus or things not working or working intermittently, i find the terminator for the system not working right and change it and 90% of the time it fixes it. same goes for planters and implements with canbus systems. the Plug on the tractor is also a terminator built into it and can cause problems.
