Galahad, Alberta | Eero, I think that fall spraying is specific to the type of weeds that you have in your fields, which you know better than us. Some weeds that have a big, thick, milky stem, like a dandelion or hawksbeard, will continue to grow after a good killing frost, while others with a thin stem are dead after -1. I have been talking with guys about hawksbeard, and apparently, it produces a type of "antifreeze" within itself, that makes it able to continue to take down nutrients after a hard freeze. The later you spray it, the better the kill you get. We had -5 last night, I'm hoping to hit it in a couple days and nuke it good. Guys around here had good luck with a product called Prepass that they spayed last fall, and kept their fields clean all this year, never sprayed any in crop herbicides, so I'm going to give it a try.
