| Sally, I think this issue basically boils down to good manners. Idealistically, this means leave the restroom in the same condition or better than you found it. Although the up-down toilet seat debate seems silly to me, leaving it the way it was when you found it seems a reasonable compromise.
Actually Mike has a good point that the seat cover should be in place whenever not "in use" to keep unintended items from being flushed. Many public restroom toilets do not have a full cover though.
A humorous sign I have seen in restrooms: "We aim to please. You aim too please!" | |
