I haven't seen any specific studies (other than a quick scan of Phil's info below) but I would say it's not likely to have a postive impact in dryland. Comparing 7.5 inch spacing dryland and 5-25 spaced furrow irrigated, I'll be glad to place bets on which will win the yeild contest in NE Colorado. :-)
