Subject: RE: Harvest has changed over the years

LaSalle, Ontario, 10 miles south of Detroit Mi.
I am 45 years old and my father who has passed on was born in 1921 started farming after grade 8. They would go from farm to farm in the area and help each other as the steam powered trashing machine would move around the area. Each farmer would bring their team of horses and a wagon to haul the crop from field to thrasher at the barn. Dad's 1st combine was a Massey 410 then a 510 and his last was a JD 7720. Well one late night we where finishing up a 70 acre field of soybeans and he was proud of the days work. I asked him if he thought he would ever combine that much in a day, he looked over at me and said "combine" there was not combines when I started son. The smile never left his face that night.
Yes Harvest has changed over time.
