Leesburg, Ohio
By your own figures, 25% of your N would be available by mid April, and 75% of your N would become available by May 30. Too early for corn's needs. We usually don't start side-dress operations until after that.
The big N requirement in corn comes more in July. Your N will be gone by then in a wet year, or would never have made it into the ground spinning it on top in a dry year, and costs significantly more than 28% bought in the off-season and stored on the farm.
Knifing in 28% liquid N with Instinct puts is in the ground where it is needed, and makes it available later in the season when needed.
