The macdon has the ability to run the reel closer to the sickle so in lodged beans the macdon has that advantage however the hydraflex has better shaving the uneven ground advantage but because of the sickle flexibility you can't have the reel right on the sickle. Both have advantages. It takes twice as long to hook or unhook the macdon
