SE SD | I am assuming the 9460R has the 13.5L engine? I had a 9560R and an S680 combine that had both engines fail before 2,000 hours. They are notorious for getting coolant in the oil. Cylinder liner protrusion, coolant rings, head gaskets, EGR coolers, water pumps, engine driveshaft, and Vari-Cool fan drives on the tractors are all common problems. I was told by a John Deere tech that the smaller models, like a 9460R or 9510R didn't have quite as many failures as the 9560R's. But still, I would be cautious. Make sure you get a repair history from the dealer if you can. Pop the hood and make sure the "burp tank" for the radiator isn't black, staind, or sooty. Verify that all the PIP's have been completed. Good luck! | |
