Easy to test whether the solenoid is bad or not.  If you don't have a multimeter just take the plastic cover off and jump the terminals.  If the starter turns over you can assume the solenoid is bad.  If it doesn't it's probably something else.  Could swap the 2 identical solenoids to check as well.
