East Central Ia | The CVT whine is pretty bad, supposedly more so on a hard pull.
This was our first experience with a Case CVT. We really liked to controls of it compared to the Challenger (Fendt) but didn’t like the transmission as well.
We ran a 340 CVT on wheels next to a 340 Row trac with powershift.
The CVT was really loud and I couldn’t see myself sitting in that for 10+ hrs a day.
The wheels pulled our chisel fine on the flat loamy soil areas. It was up to 30-40% wheel slip on the clay knobs.
It had no front weights but the large weight bracket and the large weights on the inside of the rear wheels.
The Row trac was very quiet and rode surprisingly well. It had 380 single wheels on the front and 18” tracks and had tons of traction. We are dry so ground conditions are very favorable for traction. I had 10 front weights. I was shocked how much better it pulled then the wheel machine. | |
