Mike had one burn up. Gearbox lost it's oil, got hot, kawhoosh! Gearboxes for rotors located right below the PLASTIC fuel tank.


I know next to nothing about the ideal, but where on a combine are you going to place a fuel tank that isn't next to something that could fail and start a fire? We aren't ever going to see steel fuel tanks again either. Can't really blame them for the tank placement I don't think.


Gleaner rotaries have had them behind the cab since the beginning. not completely fireproof, but IMO alot better location than most.
