On a winch, each time you use a block (pulley) to run the cable through to pull something, you double the pulling power of the winch. If you use one block to lift something it takes half the pull on the cable to lift something. The crane has six pulleys, so if I am figuring it correctly the winch on the crane only has to pull 4,218.75 lbs on the cable to lift the generator that weighs 270,000 lbs. |
