E. CO, exactly half way between NE and OK | I watched a wind tower going up this afternoon. The tower is around 100 meters tall, the generator and related parts weigh around 270,000 lbs. The cable on the crane is 34mm (around 1 1/4") in dia. The block that is attached to the generator has three loops of cable (a total of seven lengths of cable) lifting the generator.
