and the urban developers do it on some of the most productive farmland available. Lots of land in the Bear Butte Valley east of Sturgis SD being subdivided into small acreages/lots for houses and more campgrounds going in for the motorcyclists. This is some of the most productive agricultural land in western SD.
In my own area some pretty rough country that is good cattle pasture is bid out of reach of ranchers by out of state hunting interests.
