Have you had anybody put calmer deck plates on the 3300? We run a few rows of yield saver brushes but it gets old and expensive to replace them every year. Thought maybe that design of deck plate would help?

Nope, and from looking at the Calmer designs, I would see no need. The 3300 Deck plate is essentially the same design and shape as a Calmer deck plate.

Have you had a chance to be around a 3000 head with Calmers rolls and deck plates? I’m curious as to how them compare when it comes to trash intake

I have not. I have heard good things about them, but considering most people will run the same Hugger or 3000 for YEARS and then complain about having to spend a dollar on it if their 20 year old head breaks down, getting them to actually spend money to rebuild them is a chore. The Hugger/3000 head was a great head in 1989, probably the best cornhead at that time...and it did us a great job for a lot of years, but the crops have changed, and they needed replaced. The bad thing about having that long a design life span, is that there was little reason to update headers...if the 1998 model fit on the new combine you bought, why change it...nevermind you've shelled 10K acres with it, and everything was worn out, it still shells corn, right? That is my biggest problem with those heads, I can't get people to replace worn parts, let alone get someone to look at an upgrade to see if they are happy with them.

I am taking a 12 row 3300 to a customer today who is running a 3000 with all the Gleaner mods done to it, and pushing it with an S97. He will be sick when I take it back from him, but maybe it will convince him that he should upgrade the cornhead before the combine again.
