Man that was a rough trip but I’m so glad we did it. Wife and I left out at 6:30am and headed there Wednesday morning. Got to Lubbock at 1:00pm and checked into a room at the Homewood Suites by Lowe’s off of 50th. Changed clothes and got to the church at 1:30, service was at 2. I really don’t know how many people were there as we sat on the second row as family but I would guess 6-800 people from what I saw when I was leaving and know that the church holds 1900. I was really surprised by how many people weren’t wearing masks including family. After the service the procession to the burial was long as many people also went to the grave site. I counted over a hundred at the graveside.

Talking to her children and husband just reinforced how great of a woman she was. I truly left there feeling convicted of my own short comings as a father. If I died tomorrow and my kids picked up my bible they would find nothing. No notes, no highlights, no worn pages. I am a believer and I do try to live as though I’ve read the word but the truth is I only know what I’ve been preached about. My goal this weekend is to begin reading my bible from front to back, praying with the kids more, leading my wife spiritually and to just try to be a better learner.

On a second note boy has Lubbock changed in four years since I’ve been there. Texas Tool is still awesome and they remembered me too which is funny, taqueria Jalisco on Q is still delicious as always. And damn I’m glad we don’t have Allsups here, I could eat those gut busters everyday!

Thanks again and maybe next trip we can meet up. I set up an Agtalk meet and greet one year during the gin show and met several west Texas Agtalkers but I don’t think you were a part of that group.

Caleb
