Schochoh Ky | You should be fine , we have been Notill behind corn stalks for 8 years, switched back to discing 2x this year. Stalk ground here this year was a bust notilled , late spring freeze killed the pollen and most yielded 25-50% of normal . We usually drill at least a week earlier , into stalk ground , to get established going into winter , and Notill into mudd when it starts raining here in the fall can be messy. Tilled tobacco land yielded 96 this year , next to Notill corn stalk land at 35. It only takes a little dirt exposed to create a few upward degrees in temperatures , and the pollen does not freeze. Yields last year were 90 plus , and 10 year average in the middle 80s. We just felt we needed to remove a little risk . We like Notill wheat , works better for us behind corn than beans . | |
