My son bought a 315 last year that sat outside with a tarp over the knotters for 5 years. He rebuilt the knotters, and a few other things it needed and then completely rebuilt the pickup this spring. between last year and this year he has put at least 10,000 bales through it and it has been pretty much flawless. He paid $1000 for it and another $1500 in parts and added a preservative applicator to it.
