I actually did go in and sign up for CFAP 2 last week. I had to pay them about $400 to inspect and re-certify each farm to get signed up.
I do not participate in FSA programs because they want to control what you do with your property. But to get CFAP you still have to comply with wet lands and HEL. I bought an 80A farm and cleared 10 acres of trees and brush off of it 8 years ago when I bought the parcel. Now recently they noticed that I cleared the property. Then they said I was farming wet land and should have asked them to clear the trees. That field has some open drains, some tile etc and we deep ripped it and pulled up red clay tile. And it has some old tan hand laid tile. I think I am ok with them now and all I have to do is show them pictures of the one tile drain and the ditches etc.
But I absolutely hate government control and that is why I have tried not participate in FSA programs. In the long term these programs lower the price of grains and raise the price of land and inputs. They are terrible programs IMO.
I was just curious when CFAP 1 occurred and what it paid. Apparently I did not participate in that welfare program. | |
