Subject: RE: S9 Gleaner

I run a S97 with a 35ft Dynaflex and 12 row corn head. Started beans mid September at 14% with a lot of green stems, ran from 4-5.5mph depending on lean of beans and never had a feeder house issue. Pushed these same heads with a S67 before(slower). Always run a couple hrs into the night due to daytime obligations also. It’s not a totally lowered floor either. They move the cross tube up also to enhance flow. It’s not much, but it works a lot better. Sweeps are a must IMO. The one change I like the most is the relocation of the rear feeder shaft in relation to the rock trap. Much better scenario. The cab is great as stated before. I run 3,000 to 3,500 bph in corn, and it is a good fit logistically for me. Local dealer brought out a S780 demo the other day since I run all green otherwise, and they’re trying to convert me. We got that baby up to 4,200 bph before the loss went into the orange, it felt more powerful than my 97, but grain quality sucked. I couldn’t believe the cracked corn. Salesman said when you push em it directs corn to the rethrasher thingy and tends to crack corn. This machine had the cutesy camera things that watched the sample and adjust settings accordingly. I think they need to get better cameras cause, I’ll say it again, the sample sucked. Then he told me the price, $100k over the cost of my “rattle trap Gleaner”. I said thanks, but no thanks. I guess for the 100k price difference you do get more horsepower and 20,000 lbs extra weight rolling through the field, so all is not lost. Sorry for the long post.
