The Schaffer’s 238 doesn’t have that bad of specs, I like to see a 60lb Timken load rating and a higher (500min for myself) four ball weld point spec which it has as well. The only thing the 238 is a little low in is the water washout according to the specs. Can get grease under 2%, but if it’s not in a wet condition who cares.

The certified permalube came with two different choices. The one in black writing has 5% moly I’m guessing. It maxes out the four ball weld point at 800kgs which is as high as the test goes. The #2 red certified grease has a lower weld point then 238 at 400kgs, it also has a lower LWI (bad) and larger wear scar then 238. But both certified greased are roughly 1/2 the water washout of 238.

A lot of grease is in the 35-45 Timken range and 3-400kgs four ball weld. For the same cost you can get a better grease in the 60lb/500kgs range. A good moly grease should be 800kgs (as high as they test) on the four ball weld test, I’m almost positive those moly greases will wreck ball bearings but I haven’t had the misfortune of using the 5% moly in a bearing yet by mistake. So a higher number/rating isn’t always better, but to a point it is.
