I guess the 2 893's I used had all the updates when bought used. All your complaint's sound like the hugger on the MF 9790 we used along with that stupid offset pto drive that got tore up all to often. 893 has one of the flattest angled heads I used maybe they were modded more than I knew. I know the 893 on the 8780 took some fab work and a snowplow pump to run the deck plates but it worked great once setup. The other 893 for the JD9600 needed the pto adapters for drives and shafts cut shorter but worked fine also. Edit yes we grow field corn here not popcorn for harvest.
