Or really do it right and put a JD 893 head on it. If truly serious of making a great combine do a good job put a good head on it. 3000 would be close to the JD head in performance with the right mods. If the 893 is adapted to the combine properly and in good running shape it just work's. I've ran all the heads listed in the past except the 1183 1163 I did though. Just to get started Id use what he has 1183. To Harvest good and make it fun get the 893 on that combine and enjoy it.


I assume you mean a 893 with the book of aftermarket modifications thrown at it? I ran a 893 on a 9500 for a guy for a couple days. auger ran too fast, pitched ears, and had a steep angle that the piddly little chain paddles seemed to struggle with feeding... This is "small" western KS dryland ears though, maybe with hug ears it would feed better....

Stock for stock, I havent come across anything that outperforms the hugger.
