central ohio | I purchased a Camp Chef 24 DLX this year. I am really happy with it. I paid $400. If space wasn’t an issue I would buy something like that and a cheap propane grill.
I already had a Weber S-320 grill that I bought over ten years ago. So I just bought the pellet grill to replace a Masterbuilt upright smoker that used wood chips and a propane burner. Smoking a brisket for 16-18 hours was just too difficult with my last smoker. Now I put it on before I go to bed and check it once during the night instead of adding wood chips every hour.
In my opinion propane and charcoal grills are best for steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, and the like. Pellet grills do their best work as smokers.
