| So I posted awhile back about my Vermeer 665 belts stop turning after about 40 bales into a field after I eject a bale and the tail gate is closed. I contacted my local Vermeer dealer and he suggested taking a couple of coils off the spring to give it more tension. I took 1.5 coils out and it kinda helped but still does it. I have one belt on the baler that has about 500 bales through it and although it seems to feel like it has a little more bite on the side that the drive roller drive it isn't much different than the others. I removed all belts and measured and they are all within an inch of each other and we're all the right length.
I don't think the spring was the issue becuase the cylinder for tension only retracts so far, I guess they bottom out before all the rod is into the cylinder. Which is about an inch or so on the drive chain side and a little more stick out on the other side I don't think it's uneven I think just the way they are.
Seems the drive rollers are a possibly a little polished but no groves on it or anything. I guess from observing everything the drive side of the belts get dusty and get kinda slick.
But with the tail gate closed the belts do not seem tight. Checked all rollers and they all soon freely I do not think it's a bearing issue and I have baled a good 500 bales since this issue has started.
It seems as either the baler or belts heat up they slip more. But maybe it's as the belts get more and more dusty and slick I don't know for sure.
Shouldn't the belts be pretty tight with the tailgate closed? Myself and my worker both agree it's odd the cylinders rods do not go all the way into the cylinder. There is an inch of chrome rod showing. Is this normal? Would like to get this figured out as it's very annoying.
I did bale 57 bales on a field of heavy grassy hay that wasn't so dusty and it worked flawlessly. Then baled some haygrazer on what was a plowed field so it was much more dusty and 25 bales in it started doing it.
It seems since I cut some of that spring out(have the spring pretty tight which I can lossen back up) the bales are not as tight. How exactly does that spring work in relation to the hydralic tension cylinders. I have not tried traction tape yet.
To repeat the belts are all right on the money length wise. Original belts execpt for 1 outside log belt on the drive chain side. About 3000 bales on the belts. | |
