West Texas
About a month ago I had to attend a funeral of an old friend/acquaintance over in north Texas where we lived about 20 years ago. Just me and my youngest were able to go and he mainly went to keep me awake.
Anyway, when we lived there I built several miles of fences, some of which are along the highway going to the community we lived then. That fence was still in good shape. Would have been nice if they'd kept the trees from growing back up in it. I'd spent a lot of time clearing out the old fence row and building the new one in that spot.
I did not get a chance to go on the ranch I worked then due to time. I had to get back home the same day. But there is a lot of fence on that place that I built along with some spilled blood (my own, still have a scar on my back) and lots of sweat. First cut the post from Bois d’Arc trees. Split them if needed etc. Let them cure while clearing old fence row with bulldozer, after rolling old fence wire. Then the next winter finally build the new fence. Most fences I worked on there had the holes hand dug. That particular one next to the road we used an auger.

I got a lot of satisfaction still seeing that fence there. Yes, I enjoyed building fences. Did not enjoy the ticks and mosquito's though.
