I'm not following what you did. Why didn't you just leave the engine in its original position and put a string cup where the blade was?
The engine that came on it was locked up. It was also a horizontal shaft engine and the belt made a quarter turn which I did not like. The current engine with the mounts still weighs less than the original engine.
