I see the same thing. Just lack of rain is a pretty hard indicator of how bad the crop is hurt. In my part of the state a red dot like that would mean I'd be harvesting 20% of a crop. Not a 20% loss. So much difference in a regions ability to hang on and what a disaster is to some in bushels is to another. Any reduction in today's situation sucks. Especially now without a good price. In 2012 I had a field with an 18 bushel average. But at least it was my first ever claim and I had good guarentee levels. Plus the price was good. They keep saying the corn belt is shifting north. If that is the case welcome to a whole bunch more variability in seasons for the middle of the state.
