SE ND | I will tell you the same thing Mike told me when I started with pitchforks....forget drawing a fork and spend a significant amount of time (6 months - 1 year) on structure first. Without doing so you will have to revert back to it at a later time as many of the forks that you draw will not capture the correct context of the move. It is hard work and frankly can be very frustrating as the learning is not immediate but comes in waves of understanding. Long-term I feel that it can be very beneficial to a farming operation.
If you rely on someone else to tell you what the "forks" say, it will make sense until they are no longer available to show or ask questions. At that time, you will have put in no effort and will struggle to make sense of things. This is why Mike and others have always said that you need to do the work yourself. You will be wrong just as we all are at times, but your goal should be to tear it apart to make sense of why price did something you didn't expect. In time, you'll come to enjoy charting as it will take a fraction of time that it once did.
Don't be afraid to be wrong. That is where learning happens. There have been many times this year where you have a plan and price "should" do this...only to see one bar blow the whole idea apart. It's all about probabilities. | |
