NW IA | My only experience with it was several years ago when I spiked it into a fading alfalfa stand.
I intended to chop and bag it for my dairy cows but about the time it was in the recommended optimum stage it started to rain and didn't stop long enough to cut the JM until it was headed out and the field looked black from the road.
I figured it was likely going to be bedding quality at that point so decided to round bale it. It was thick, tall, and took a long time to dry but the weather was in my favor and I got boodles of round bales off that field.
My replacement heifers and dry cows ate that nasty looking stuff like candy.
Not much useful information I know, just how it went for me. | |
