Subject: RE: Converting a corn picker to sweet corn????

With the proper amount of financing anything is possible.....
That being said you'd have to sell one hell of alot of corn to pay what it would cost to convert a regular picker to pick sweet corn. First challenge would to get it to pick. Need a stripper plate type head with a chopping type rolls. Don't think regular snapping rolls would grab a green juicy stalk. Then as others said, you'll need to eliminate the husking bed. Get past these two things and the rest is easy, comparatively speaking. After doing all that, how the rest of the picker would perform is a big question. Some of the pickers I've been around had all they could do to handle dry corn.....
