nw NC | Want to reduce the seed bank in your soil? Do it the same way as money in a financial institution (bank) . You make withdrawals. Take a dollar out of the bank and spend it . It is gone. Sprout a weed seed out of the soil weed bank and it is gone from the bank, but the weed is now like the dollar in your pocket. You've got to spend it for it to be truly gone. Spend those "weed seed dollars" by either stirring the soil and bringing them into position (near the surface) to sprout where they can be mechanically destroyed by cultivation or you destroy them with chemicals that either are taken up by root as the seedling weed sprouts and grows or do a burn down operation such as applying Glyphosate onto a Roundup Ready crop.
