Southern MN | Sorry just do think that anyone in the government is playing with the numbers for some end goal.
First of all who are these smarter than anyone government bureaucrats that can continue to massage the numbers and never get caught.
Second of all what is their end game. The price of our raw commodities makes very little difference to the average Americans cost of living. 50 cents on corn makes the average persons cost of living go up, maybe $300? Have no idea maybe someone smarter than me can tell us, but I would guess we would be shocked how low the number is.
Third if the govt was playing with the numbers wouldn’t they understate the surplus? Wouldn’t higher prices be better for everyone, including the government?
I guess you could argue that they are keeping prices low to keep us at the government trough to keep us dependent on the govt? There again if there is someone this smart in the govt to always be one step ahead of the market what in the **** are they doing at the USDA, there has to be more productive thing they could be doing.
Agree the reporting isn’t perfect, last year seems to have been overstated, mainly in my own backyard there has no corn piled anywhere. But I still think it is hard to pull all of this info together and be within 5%. I never fill out the forms they send me Asking for the grain in storage I am guessing there are a lot of other people that don’t either? | |
