Subject: How would you fix this stripped plug?

East Central SD
New to me 608 corn head. One row has stripped threads in the top of the gearbox for the dipstick, which I knew when I purchased it. My two thoughts are weld the aluminum back up, drill, and tap. Other thought is a helicoil, but I haven't checked to see if I can get one with the same threads as the dipstick. I'm hoping I can cram the box full of rags so I don't have to disassemble any further, then thoroughly flush the box before reassembly. Thoughts?
