Davpal I would guess you are my age. US population doubled plus since I was in high school. Rural towns where there were ag support businesses and farmers were generally respected have turned into bedroom communities. Since 1969 here the 2 feed stores, 3 equipment dealers and the independent repair guys have disappeared. People come to build here in the country but many are annoyed or worse by SMV's, night work a couple nights a year, dreaded chemicals and manure odor.They want to live in the country but don't want what goes with it. Used to be quiet most nights, owls hooting, not trucks roaring by. Early morning hear the neighbors calling the cows etc. Google Earth shows the burbs where I grew up have swallowed up amazing amounts of farmland where I worked as a teen. If this continues there will not be resources to sustain it. And where population is leveling off or declining brings the problem of who will support and care for the elderly.
