Or maybe we could just give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you mean CALCIUM carbonate or something other than just plain carbonate. Calcium is a cation -- it is inherently acidic. Calcium cannot displace hydrogen from the cation-exchange sites on the soil matrix. This is precisely the reason that you cannot use gypsum (calcium sulfate) to raise soil pH. I have given no advice anywhere in this thread. |
