| New varieties are new genetics, that's why they yield better. That's what they pay the breeders for. As far as the RR2's. as far as I understand it, it's the exact same transgene except its located in a different spot to reduce yield drag. Monsanto claims that they yield 7-11% better. Whether they do or not, we will find out. But I would expect some yield gain due to better genetics, Isn't that what breedings for? And with the accerelon seed treatment, it's as if they are trying to do everything possible to make the RR2's look better. While the Y series may be a marketing scheme, I say the RR2's are in the same boat. But the proof will be in the pudding this fall. | |
