| I've put on over 100 pounds potash 2x0 or 2x2 for years and years and have never seen one problem from it. I would not be scared of the potash. This year I put on 300lbs 9-23-30 on some low fert. CRP ground. The corn shows no signs of any nutrient deficencies on some extremly low testing soil. 2x2 dry starter works for P and K for sure.
However, I would be scared of the urea. I have put on 25 lbs urea before with no apparent ill effects, but I am leery to go higher after reading as much university data that I could find on the subject. Most university types do not recommend any urea at all. They say to use AMS or ammoinum nitrate for starter. Why I'm not sure. I've read rec's from the UW that state on non-sandy soils, one can go up to 500lbs of starter when placed 2x2, and 300 lbs starter on sandy soils when placed 2x2 so how can a little urea hurt if 300lbs of starter does not?
